Sr. Tender Manager

Introduction:

Opportunity for an experienced Tendering / Commercial individual to progress into (Snr) Tendering Management. The successful candidate will be involved in all large ($100m +) EPIC tenders globally which requires any of our current fleet of 5 multipurpose DP3 construction vessels (another 2 due for delivery within the next 18 months).

Authority:

  • Authority to stop any person from performing an unsafe act;
  • Authority as further described within the Tendering / Commercial authority matrix.

 

Reporting Relationships:

Reports directly to the Commercial Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of Tendering team;
  • Management reporting;
  • Strategic JV / Partnering review;
  • Initial review and summarising of the ITT package so that an initial Bid or No Bid decision can be made;
  • Compilation and ownership of the Tender Responsibility Matrix;
  • Run the Tender Kick of Meetings;
  • Compiling and managing the tender inputs;
  • Coordination of all subcontractor ITT and evaluations;
  • Compiling the pricing spreadsheet to build up the cost base;
  • Evaluating of the project risks;
  • Evaluating the competition / competitive position;
  • Interface with other departments as required;
  • Presenting the costing to management;
  • Compiling the commercial qualifications to ensure compliance with all commercial principals;
  • Compiling the final tender package in compliance with all processes, procedures and principals;
  • Ensuring timely delivery of the tender documents;
  • Dealing with ongoing clarifications / negotiations;
  • Close out of tenders negotiations;
  • Handover to the project team;
  • Support / ownership of on-going tendering initiatives.

  • Understanding, implementation and compliance with all applicable processes and procedures;
  • Total commitment to the STG SMS;
  • Effective motivation of all staff to execute their activities in a professional manner in accordance with the STG SMS.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Required:

  • Proven track record of tendering EPIC work in the oil and gas industry for a leading offshore oil and gas contractor;
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language;
  • Proven man management;
  • Ability to think strategically;
  • Proven track record of direct commercial negotiations both up and down stream;
  • Ability to prioritise the workload;
  • Willing to travel when required;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office packages – in particular, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Flexibility in switching between different types of tendering duties on a daily basis;
  • Hands-on mentality;
  • Team player;
  • Pleasant disposition with the capability to be authoritative when necessary;
  • Organised and proactive;
  • Strong co-ordination, organisation and liaison skills with the ability to seek and gain consensus solutions to complex issues.

 

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor or Master degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering, Business or Commercial based discipline;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Minimum 7 years engineering / tendering experience.
