Job title : HSES Officer
Location : Lagos, Nigeria
Responsibilities:
Assisting in development, implementation and maintenance of Company Management System (CMS);
Adequately performing internal and external audits;
Assisting in identifying requirements for quality, safety, health, environment and security (HSES);
Liaise with HSE Coordinator for review of tenders and contracts on HSES requirements;
Liaise with HSE Coordinator in providing HSES input to tenders and contracts;
Advising and supporting company staff in complying with HSES requirements;
Supporting project teams in meeting HSES requirements;
Availability of relevant CMS documentation where relevant;
Supporting risk assessments related to HSES aspects in work locations;
Assist HSE Coordinator in proposing measures to reduce the identified risks;
Monitoring follow-up on proposed measures and report to HSE Coordinator;
Observing if (project) activities are performed in accordance with HSES requirements, Company Policy and Company Management System;
Maintaining HSES records and files;
Promoting of company policy and Company Management System (CMS);
Identification and reporting of HSES areas of concern to Manager HSES;
Assists HSE Coordinator in proposing and stimulating optimization and improvements;
Implement project procedures at work locations and report findings to HSE Coordinator;
Perform internal and external audits;
Have unrestricted access to departments and files;
Report audit findings to Manager HSES;
Recommend improvements to systems and processes to company’s management;
Check and verify ongoing work, subcontractors and own sites (vessels etc.);
Review CMS documentation (a.o. procedures) prior to release.
Reports to:
HSES Coordinator (functional).
Knowledge, Skills & Ability Required:
Good practical and theoretical knowledge of QHSES standards:, ISO 14001, BS-OHSAS 18001;
Good knowledge of HSES management systems;
Good knowledge of the English language both written and spoken;
Capable to motivate and manage people;
Good social and communication skills;
Service oriented attitude.
Experience & Education:
Minimum of 1 year experience in Quality and HSE management;
Minimum of 3 years experience in offshore Oil and Gas industry;
Bachelor Degree in Nautics or Nautical / Civil / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
ISO 9000, quality management, environmental management, safety management courses;
Auditor training.
