Job title : Operations Co-ordinator
Location : Lagos, Nigeria
Responsibilities:
Ensuring that vessels and equipment are timely at required location provided with sufficient operating supplies;
Cost-efficient operation of appointed vessels in a manner that safety, health, environment and security are safeguarded;
(De)Mobilization of vessels and equipment;
Creating conditions to support Local Shore Co-ordinator in arranging logistics adequately;
Day-to-day communication with Local Shore Co-ordinator, Barge Master and Superintendent and management of ship operating company;
Review of tenders / projects on ‘special requirements’ w.r.t. utilization of vessel and equipment;
To keep project teams and rest of company organisation informed about vessel related issues;
To inform vessels (Barge Master, Superintendent) of relevant project or company issues;
Management and coordination of vessels when idle;
Review and approval of installation / construction concept and method;
Review and approval of project drawings and manuals related to offshore operations;
Identification of critical operational aspects;
Advising and supporting project teams w.r.t. operational matters and use of equipment;
Giving feedback to the organisation on operational matters and verify / ensure follow-up;
Adherence to Company Management System (CMS) applicable to his field of responsibility;
Proposing optimization and improvements in his area of responsibility;
Approve project drawings and manuals related to offshore operations;
Initiate (additional) analyses, assessments and studies of critical operational aspects.
Directs:
(Local) Shore Co-ordinator.
Reports to:
General Manager (functional);
Project Manager (project related).
Knowledge, Skills & Ability Required:
Good practical knowledge of transportation, installation and pipe laying techniques;
Good awareness of maritime legal aspects;
Good practical knowledge of Quality, Safety, Health, Environment and Security Systems;
Good knowledge of the English language both written and spoken;
Capable to motivate and manage people.
Experience & Education:
Minimum of 5 years experience in preparing and/or executing offshore transportation, installation or pipelay projects;
Minimum of 3 years experience on offshore vessels;
Technical College or Bachelor degree in Nautics or Nautical / Civil / Mechanical engineering.
